The second leg of our European adventure in August, 2018 was Budapest. The day we went up the hill to Buda castle alternated between searing hot sun and downpours. We were lucky enough to get the last table on a covered patio and spent the storm feeling smug every time a group tried to take refuge under the canopy and were scared away by the waiter. We weren’t able to go into Matthias Church because of this wedding, and the sun came out just in time for them to get photos outside. (Edit to add: I was able to go inside the church on a subsequent visit in January 2024. It is stunning.)
