Cleaning Sucks
I don’t like to clean. I’m sure there are people out there that enjoy it, or at least find it begrudgingly necessary. I do not. Honestly, what’s the point? It’s just going to get dirty again anyway, and in my house, it’s going to get dirty again really, really quick. I’ve got three dogs and two kids, for chrissakes.
However, as my kitchen is being worked on, I am finding the buildup of dust and generally nastiness to be completely intolerable. I can’t fucking stand it another minute. There’s grit everywhere, on everything, and I haven’t so much as swept the floors of the rooms that aren’t being worked on, because I’m waiting until they’re done with the demolition work. Which they are, today, and so I had planned to happily spend several hours in my living room and den, bedroom and bathrooms, swiping up grit and dirt off my floors and furniture.
But I can’t, because they’re working in the kitchen, and everytime I walk through there with a bucket or a rag or a cup of coffee, they give me a look like, “Will you quit walking back and forth? We’re going to knock you on the head with a pipe or a piece of wood or something!” Plus, every time I walk through there, I track more grit and dust into the rooms I’m entering. I can’t get into the den, because one guy is on a ladder right in front of the door. This is driving me insane. For the first time ever, I actually WANT to clean, and I can’t.
I’ve already decided that when the job is done, I’m going to hire some professional cleaners to come in and scrub every inch of my house, top to bottom, walls, woodwork, floors, furniture, everything.
I don’t really have anything else to say, I’m just sort of trapped in the living room right now, enduring the sounds of saws and hammers and banging, waiting for my cabinets to arrive so I can give them the other half of the money I owe on them. So eh, blah post. Sorry.

Thanks, Viki. I didn’t say you had to play TODAY! I’ll give you through the first of next week before I begin to fuss.
